The reason that this is has to do with the underlying behavior of your jaw bone. Remember that you mouth, jaw bone, and teeth are all living tissue that is dynamic and ever changing. If you are missing a tooth your jaw will be able to sense the missing structure and will divert blood supply elsewhere in order to conserve energy and efficiency. The result of this loss in blood flow is signaled by the push and pull of the tooth on your bone.

If there is not tugging on the bone then the jaw will divert blood supply and begin to recede from the gum line. This means that your smile could be affected and your complete jaw structure will change leaving a more noticeable gape in your smile evident not only by the lost tooth, but also the dip/divot in your jaw and gum line. This could create unsightly consequences which could only be rectified by bone grafting procedures.

That is why it is important to address the picture immediately. If you have lost a tooth due to tooth decay, infection, or trauma make sure to ask for dental implants as soon as possible.

How are dental implants placed?

There are many types of ways to place implants. It is always important for the dentist to see if your jawbone and tissue is amenable to dental implant placement. This can be done in a majority of ways. One popular to assess is to take a CT scan of your jaw in order to look at the depth and the width of you jaw bone to assess if implants will properly be anchored to your jaw. Together a dental radiologist and the dentist can make the decision on whether or not a dental implant can be placed. Once the implant is fitted virtually using the CT scan computed technology then the dentist can make the call as to whether or not your implant will take.

If your bone is not enough to handle a dental implant do not fret, things can be done to make sure your dental implant will fit.

Bone Grafting can be done in order to expand the jaw. The graft can be supplemented into the jaw in order to give you jaw the bone needed to support a dental implant. The bone will be placed in your jaw and bone growth promoting material will be surgically sewn in with it to make sure that your jaw is able to grow into the bone graft adequately.

Dental Implant placement can then be accomplished once the jaw is deemed good enough for intervention. The implant is placed using titanium supplementation. Titanium has long been known to work well with the bone tissues. It is commonly used in spinal surgeries and dental procedures alike. The titanium is placed implanted into your jaw in order simulate a normal tooth. Then the dental implant is placed on top of the titanium in order to assimilate an organic tooth. The strength of the implant is that it is anchored to your jaw like a regular tooth.

It has the regular pull and push on the jaw that a normal tooth does which can help you avoid jaw recession in place of the missing tooth. The tooth can be created to be the same color and match as the tooth it has replaced. The other great thing about implants is that once they are placed they are a permanent fixture and can be maintained just like a regular tooth.
